Our Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend
Marjorie was born July 26, 1927 in Rockport, Texas to Robert Lester and Birdiemae (Blount) Harrell.Marjorie was a proud supportive Army wife to her husband MG (Ret.) Raymond Holmes Bishop, Jr. She was also a devoted mother to her four children. Marjorie enjoyed relaxing at the family ranch and gardening as well as being an animal lover.Mrs. Bishop passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 in a Copperas Cove nursing home.Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Harrell; a sister, Jane Harrell Wentworth and a grandson, LCPL David Lindsey (USMC).Marjorie will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 61 years MG( Ret.) Raymond Holmes Bishop, Jr. of Harker Heights; three sons, LTC (Ret.) Michael H. Bishop and his wife Nora of Spartanburg, SC, COL (Ret.) Robert H. Bishop and his wife Phyllis of Killeen and Stephen R. Bishop of Dallas and a daughter, Marilyn (Bishop) Rogers and her husband COL (Ret.) Guy A. Rogers II of Frisco, TX. She will also be lovingly remembered by a sister, Carolyn Adams of Jourdanton, TX; a sister-in-law, Charlyne Zirkle of San Antonio, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as all of her nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to the Army Medical Department Museum, P.O. Box 8294, San Antonio, TX 78208 or to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washinton, DC 20077 or to your local church building fund.The Bishop family received guests for a time of vistiation from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Janaury 15, 2008 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.Funeral services for Marjorie (Harrell) Bishop, age 80, Harker Heights will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 17, 2008 in the Fort Sam Houston Main Post Chapel at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Following interment the family will have a reception at the Army Medical Department Museum at Fort Sam Houston.
